Los Globos - Indie/Dance

$8.00 - $10.00

This event is 21 and over

Drawing inspiration from 70s disco, 80s New Wave and 90s indie rock, Moscow's Pompeya creates unabashed pop music. The group weaves vibrant harmonies, melodic synth lines, and punchy guitar riffs to create a sound compared favorably to that of Holy Ghost! and Cut Copy. Their debut Tropical quickly earned the band subbstantial popularity in their home country, which they supported with extensive touring throughout Eastern Europe. The US-label reissued their debut in November 2012, which was paired with a US touring debut. Tropical Remixes is the group's most recent release, which as the title implies, is a collection of remixes from the likes of Jimmy Edgar, Fred Falke, Felix da Housecat and Psychemagik, to name a few. 2014 will see the band's SXSW debut, full US tour, and new release Night EP, the first single of which is “Satellite.”
JoyCut produce a mesmerizing and conceptual sound based on dilated and biting electro sound.
The band recently opened and toured with such bands as The Editors, Art Brut, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire and Sebadoh, the trio is poised to win over American fans on their first proper US Tour in February and March of 2014 (a mini tour happened in October 2013). The tour will be in support of their third album, 2013’s PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround (released on Italy’s largest record label IRMA) and centered around their selection for South By Southwest, one of just two Italian bands to be selected thus far!

JoyCut is also managing a gigantic campaign “Ghost Trees Forest” which pays careful attention to our sustainable future_ In recognition of this the new album will use cellophane tape from 100% biodegradable material and both the vinyl CD and booklet are made from recycled products_
That's the reason why JoyCut strongly started to record their works in solar powered recording studios_

Previously on JoyCut:
In September 09 they were invited to the Co2penhagen Festival in Denmark (with artist such as Mercury Rev, Tv-2, Lars H.U.G.)_
In October 09 they flew to Spain to participate at the Monkey Week and in November they also played in Ireland appearing as guest on the Balcony-TV Show_

In the meantime they have performed all over Europe for a brand new pre-release-tour, hitting Croatia, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Ireland, Spain, UK and Canada for the Canadian Music Fest 2010_
They have shared the stage with Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse @ Independent Day 2010_

JoyCut' Last Album 2011's “Ghost Trees Where To Disappear” was a huge success: a triumph of sorts_

Over the whole of 2011 they toured mainly Italy, touching London, enjoying remarkable huge success with audiences and critics_ They performed everywhere, also in acoustic, even among and under real trees_ From that experience, in fact, they pulled out of the hat a "natural" version of the album entirely recorded and played unplugged_

In an age when everything about a new band is splattered across various social media, JoyCut are something of an anomaly_
From refusing to show their faces in early photos, they’ve already marked out themselves as oddball geeks_

The New Album "PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround" is lyrically their new astonishing debut_
It’s hardly a knicker-dropping missive, but good god, they make Mystery sound Sexy_
Kauf self-released 2 songs, Relocate and When You're Out, in 2011, with heavy drum production, dense, cinematic synth buildups and his own high-pitched, echo-laden vocals. They found their way to Dan Whitford of Cut Copy, who soon after signed Kauf to Cutters Records for a 4 song EP. This led to DJ sets around his home base, Los Angeles, premiering his live show at Mexico City's M.N. Roy, followed by shows at LA venues like El Rey Theatre and The Roxy, a remix of Tony Castles for Lost in Records, feature film sync licensing, and scoring music for a video on His first EP, As Much Again, was released on Cutters records in July 2013, and his full length debut is nearing completion . His first single, Relocate, has been remixed by Moons , Psychemagik (Psychemagik), Nile Delta, and Mind Enterprises.

"[Relocate] is dreamy, dirty and synthy in all the right ways, touting slightly yearning vocals and a neon-fused melody. " - Indie Shuffle

"[Relocate is] the best parts of SMD's "I Believe," Caribou's last album and The Presets "Girl and the Sea" with a whopping dose of Italo Disco via Tangerine Dream." - Virgin Mobile Live
